The majority is correspondence of Cass with his family. With his father and brother, Heber, regarding family and, land owned in Michigan. With his wife and children while he is on the preaching circuit and while his children are in school. Kent worked in a mine in Arizona and writes a vivid letter of life in a mining camp and describes the mine and its workings. Winifred gives an account of a lecture given by Helen Keller in Champaign and her response to Miss Keller. There are letters from the sons in Alberta describing the country, the weather, and their work and lists of equipment, clothing, seeds and animals they will need to get started and the estimated costs. A few letters from Baptist organizations. Receipts for items purchased by Katy for her store.

The Morehouse ancestors moved from New York to Michigan and then to Central Illinois where they have served as teachers, minister, businessmen and morticians. Lewis Cass and Heber Judson, sons of Albert Morehouse of Portland Michigan, settled in Illinois. Cass was a Baptist minister and Heber taught in Champaign County schools for sixteen years before selling insurance and then obtaining an undertaking license.
